Mechanical Engineer (W7-X Placement Program)
Munich
Proxima Fusion
Proxima is a European fusion energy start-up building stellarator fusion power plants.
WHO WE AREAt Proxima Fusion, we're driven by a bold mission – to redefine the future of sustainable energy. Our unique concept, built upon the groundbreaking W7-X stellarator and the latest advances in technology, paves the way for commercially viable fusion power plants.
Our work in stellarator optimization, powered by cutting-edge computation and machine learning, is propelling us into uncharted territories of fusion technology. New higher performance design points are unlocked by high temperature superconducting magnets.
We're on a journey to redefine the energy landscape, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
PLACEMENT PROGRAM DETAILSThis position is part of a placement program in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP).
As part of the program, you will spend six months working at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Greifswald, one of the world’s leading fusion research centers focused on the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator.
After the initial six months, you will have the option to either join us permanently in Munich or continue your work with IPP in Greifswald on the W7-X project.
Proxima Fusion is building on the world-leading research of IPP and the record-breaking results of W7-X, the most advanced stellarator in the world. As the first-ever spin-out company from IPP, we are proud to lead the development of the first generation of fusion power plants using QI stellarators.
