JOB DESCRIPTION:

Internships have a lasting impact on our team at New York Air Brake! The summer internship program for students in their Junior or Senior year of study provides the opportunity to make big contributions that help us deliver advanced freight rail braking solutions now and in the future. This is your opportunity to make a big impact on improving the quality of how the latest generation of locomotive and freight car braking systems are manufactured. You can expect challenging work and an insider’s view into your future profession. You will work as an individual and as part of a project team, while receiving regular feedback in preparation for a final presentation to company leaders.

The BI Intern will work in 3 primary areas:

• Report Development: Help the team with creating visual reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI Desktop.
• Data Analysis: Translate data into informative visuals and reports, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with team members and stakeholders to gather requirements and discuss solutions.

• Gain unparalleled exposure to real-world MS SQL development, design, and performance tuning.
• Develop strong professional connections with our Business Intelligence Developers and BI Analysts team, who will guide you through projects and help sharpen your skills.
• Participate in a collaborative and innovative team-oriented environment employing Agile methodologies.
• Build dynamic visualizations and dashboards using Power BI or Qlik.
• Use Snowflake to extract large volumes of data from multiple sources.
• Apply working knowledge of business concepts to create analytical applications

Skills and Competencies:

• Ambitious and passionate about technology and data
• Basic understanding of SQL
• Basic understanding of interactive data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio
• Familiarity with Snowflake

Education:

Currently studying to pursue an undergraduate degree in Data Analytics, Information Science, Computer Science, or a comparable field.
