Job Description

HII's Global Security group is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to join our Internal Research and Development team! This is a full-time remote position. As a Software Engineer, you will play a critical role as part of the Internal Research and Development team in the planning, research, design, development, and testing work needed to create high quality software that is ready for transition to direct customers. You will be expected to build and improve large software by working with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other Engineers by translating functional requirements into robust, scalable, and supportable solutions. You will participate in the full development lifecycle and actively troubleshoot issues in support of applications in production critical environments. This is a full-time remote position, and the candidate must be able to work during Eastern Time zone hours

Essential Job Responsibilities

•    Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. 
•    Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. 
•    Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls
•    Prepares operating instructions
•    Designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. 
•    Ensures software standards are met.
•    Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. 
•    Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
•    Works under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions
•    Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
•    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
 

Minimum Qualifications

•    5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience Strong understanding of user experiences design principles, information architecture, and accessibility standards. 
•    Proficiency, in at least, one modern programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++
•    Knowledge of best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.

Preferred Requirements

•    Experience developing software for DoD distributed simulations.
