Who Are We

Mission Technologies, a Division of HII is seeking an Engineer Software 3 to support Modeling, Simulation and Training at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center (JITTC-N), Nellis AFB, NV.  The individual’s primary responsibility will center on database software engineering, development and integration within JSE at the JITTC-N. 

What You Will Do

Developing and maintaining database software for an advanced synthetic test and training environments specific to the JSE at the JITTC-N.  Support software development, software integration, customer training and demonstrations. This will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Monitoring and maintaining databases and related systems to ensure optimized performance. 

  • Assisting development teams in designing new database programs that meet the organization’s data storage needs. 

  • Writing new support programs, scripts, queries to increase data storage capabilities in scope, content and size. 

  • Generating/reviewing database and user reports, as well as system information. 

  • Performing debugging procedures on database scripts and programs, as well as resolving conflicts. 

  • Adhering to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving data. 

  • Documenting processes related to database design, configuration and performance. 

  • Keeping abreast of development and best practices in database engineering. 

  • Implement industry standard, theoretical, and/or rigorous analysis methodologies to verify and validate software designs and analysis methods. 

  • Remain current on developing JSE software technologies and available packages/patches. 

  • Collaborate with government personnel to prioritize features and deliverables to meet changing customer needs. 

  • Collaborates with team members to design future enhancements with specific focus on the development, test and integration of data crawlers for non-DIS protocols. 

What You Must Have

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.

  • Experience contributing to the system design or architecture of new and current systems.  

  • BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Degrees in Engineering, Math, and Physics may qualify with at least 1 year of C++ and/or Python experience.  

  • Able to successfully manage competing tasks and priorities. 

  • Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills. 

  • Must be able to work in a team environment. 

  • Ability to achieve and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance. 

  • Must be a US citizen. 

Bonus Points For...

  • Previous of active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance. 

  • Experience in software design, test and implementation within DoD flight simulators. 

  • Experience with Agile software practices. 

  • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts. 

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. 

Physical Requirements

Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements Software Engineer family.
