Asset Servicing Technology – Lead Architect, Data Engineering and Technology

Job Description:

Asset Servicing Technology is consolidating a group of data engineering teams and is looking for a dynamic and proven Lead Architect. The role requires significant experience and proven track record of executing projects at the highest level of complexity and scale. The ideal candidate will show mastery of not just architecture as it relates to code design and implementation, but will need to show extensive knowledge of devops, networking, infrastructure and have a command of working within an enterprise environment. The candidate will set the tone for the teams’ approach to builds, working to ensure the patterns used across all builds are aligned, focused on modularity and simplicity and scalable. Promoting a culture that embraces feedback and open-source (internal) approaches will be a requirement for the role. Managing and architecting data solutions, partnering with business teams and clients, as well as extensive background working with financial data across systems both on-premises and cloud a must-have. The candidate will also need to promote reusable patterns and tooling well outside of their direct line-of-sight, being an influential member of the engineering community at large across the bank and spending time working across teams and experience levels to help us drive the engineering of the future.

Major Duties :

  • Manage the development framework and capabilities for the Front Office Analytics space, specifically aimed at the overall infrastructure, design and architecture as well as portability and resiliency well into the future.
  • Contribute to the architectural vision and physical designs for the Data Warehouse Solutions platform, Data Mesh, RCE and Risk and Compliance product lines as well as teams across the bank and business units.
  • Design, build and evangelize the infrastructure and tooling that delivers scalable solutions to clients not only in the near term, but becomes the framework upon which we build into the future.
  • Foster an environment that enables data producers and data consumers and brings them together to build high quality solutions for our business and clients, and focuses on modularity and velocity in deployment.
  • Highly proficient in all stages of SDLC.
  • Engage with the business to execute on client implementations for the most complex mandates we engage in.
  • Mastery of working within the enterprise confines and across our complex systems both human and technical to ensure project execution.
  • Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a lead point of contact for those projects. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Orchestration of teams a requirement.
  • Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for experienced staff and new joiners.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
  • Handles the most complex IT projects. Coordinates with users to determine requirements and define technology project plans that deliver value.
  • Proven mastery of multiple coding languages, operating systems, clouds, dbms, engineering paradigm as well as proven ability to focus on simplicity and execution.
  • Experience across cloud technologies as well on premise, and cloud data warehouses.
  • Ability to adapt to technical constraints easily and build to the variables rather than see blockers.
  • Spend time working cross-team to foster our engineering community and aide in moving the organization towards reusability
  • Strong focus on testing, automation and devops.

Experience :

10+ years experience in engineering, data architecture and client facing projects.  Experience in modeling financial services data products is a critical skill. Mastery of containerization and deployment patterns required.  Strong track record of technology delivery of technology projects including strong collaboration skills across technologists, business SMEs and clients is mandatory.  Extensive experience in proprietary software and data engineering is required. Proven record of mastering technical constraints while executing with velocity

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 233,600 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
