The Opportunity 

 

The position of Senior Analyst, Data Analytics is a critical team member in contributing to the development and execution of the Data Analytics group strategy. The successful candidate will bring their innovation, attitude for critical thinking, curiosity and functional expertise, and a passion for using data and analytics tool sets to drive the success of this initiative. 

 

The Manulife Audit Services Data Analytics group supports the global audit teams by collaborating with them to provide relevant data and effectively employ the use of data analytics in audit activities. These activities cover the different product lines and functions within the company globally. This includes Insurance, Wealth, Investment, and Banking products as well as actuarial and information technology functions. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Actively contributes to multi-functional audit projects to develop analytics enabled solutions on data appropriateness for quality and accuracy, data validation, consolidation and cleansing processes. 

  • Works on problems of limited scope / complexity, following standard practices and data analytics procedures to evaluate controls and business objectives. 

  • Provides analysis on datasets of moderate complexity to identify outliers, anomalies, patterns, or other compliance indicators that may be hidden in the data 

  • Develop detailed business and system knowledge within supported areas. Document data knowledge to help build a robust knowledgebase for future efforts. 

  • Communicates results of analysis to senior audit management, analytics lead and business partners. 

  • Train and support audit teams in the analysis of captured data as well as technical training to auditors across all levels 

  • Automate processes to increase turnaround time on data availability and increase efficiencies in the audit process

What we are looking for 

 

  • Master’s degree in a technical / quantitative field (statistics, computer science, math, etc.) or extensive analytical experience 

  • Working knowledge in data analytics/data management/programming experience, Machine-Learning, data mining and statistics. 

  • Knowledge and experience with build Machine-Learning models 

  • Generative AI concepts and hands on experience is an asset. 

  • Advanced programming skills in Python & SQL and working experience with MS Excel, VBA, Power Platforms  

  • Familiar with Azure environment, Databricks is an asset.   

  • Experience with visualization tools, Power BI, Tableau and opensource visualization libraries. 

  • Experience with data gathering, storing, and retrieval methods 

  • Experience working with various data platforms; structured and unstructured 

  • Sound or developing business acumen 

  • Knowledge or desire to learn text analytics 

  • Knowledge or desire to learn statistical techniques (e.g., regression, cluster, decision trees) 

  • Insurance or Financial Services industry experience preferred

Salary range is expected to be between

$75,880.00 CAD - $140,920.00 CAD
