AI Engineer / SME

Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking an AI Engineer / SME with experience with Unmanned Systems to support our Huntsville, AL location.

The engineer will be a member of a team supporting integration and evaluation of AI focused software intensive solutions for various uncrewed and crewed aviation platforms. The candidate will engage with technology providers from various Government agencies, academia, and industry. The position requires knowledge of autonomy, AI, software design, integration, and AI / software testing. Familiarity with computer networking, uncrewed vehicle systems, data distribution, and edge computing desired. The ideal candidate will have proven skills developing and integrating AI/ML for evaluation in both laboratory and flight test environments.

Duties:

• Review, analysis, integrate, evaluate industry and academia developed AI solutions.
• Guide/contribute to systems, hardware, and software integration activities.
• Aid in the development of test and demonstration plans and procedures.
• Provide onsite engineering support for laboratory and flight tests.
• Review software and systems development and test artifacts.
• Maintain individual and team knowledge of AI and autonomy.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

• At least 5 years of related work experience in AI. Expertise with multiple AI methods and tools.
• At least 2 years of recent experience in vehicle and sensor systems integration, ideally exposure to vehicle mission computing, avionics, and/or sensor payloads. 
• Experience with MLOps
• Knowledge of software architecture and design practice.
• Experience developing software.
• Track record of prioritizing and executing tasks.
• Good written and verbal communication skills. Exposure to the Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to work effectively within geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to travel (up to 20%)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

• BS in engineering or computer science. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Model-Based Engineering including at minimum MBSE. Exposure to UML or SysML languages.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with development within Linux operating systems.
• Unmanned aircraft systems integration experience, with autonomy, or robotics integration experience.
• Exposure to vehicle mission computing, avionics, and/or sensor payloads.
• Experience with open systems and/or software standards.
• Experience developing with software languages such as C++, Python, C#, and Java
• Familiarity with edge and embedded computing environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and/or airworthiness.
• Exposure to DevSecOps with knowledge of common tools and platforms.
