Your Opportunity

Would you like to join a team dedicated to delivering high-impact content to students, researchers, and medical and business professionals? As a Senior Content Integration Engineer, you’ll support a growing portfolio of research database products as part of a cross-functional ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) team. Your overarching goal will be delivering content to customers as quickly and as accurately as possible. This role contributes to all aspects of the data value stream and the implementation and maintenance of products - including designing and executing product implementation plans, meeting operational SLAs, and achieving established quality standards. To get the job done, you’ll blend data analysis and technical acumen with knowledge of bibliographic metadata and academic research. At the end of the day, you’ll be delivering valuable content to researchers across the world, making it easily accessible whenever and wherever they need it. 

 

This remote position is U.S.-based only (excluding U.S. territories).

What You'll Do

  • Define metadata transformation processes that manipulate bibliographic data sources to EBSCO’s proprietary format 
  • Operate automated tools and processes in order to acquire, transform and load content within established quality and lead time targets 
  • Analyze third-party data sources to perform quality checks, resolve defects, and prepare data for transformation and loading 
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Agile Product Owners, and fellow Content Integration Engineers to support scoping and executing projects as part of the SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprises) planning process 
  • Develop a technical understanding of a large scale, multifaceted ETL pipeline, and use that understanding to diagnose errors, identify areas for optimization, and deliver content to customers 
  • Collaborate with other CI Engineers on ETL tool configurations, evaluating existing tools and proposing ideas for innovative solutions 
  • Use facts, data, metrics, and structured problem-solving methods (such as A3) to craft a narrative and make the case for change, within the team’s strategic goals 
  • Adapt to and lead change in with a relentless eye for improvement 
  • Act as a peer-coach and mentor to fellow Content Integration Engineers 
  • Take an active role in planning short- and long-term efforts for yourself and your team 

 

Your Team

You will be welcomed as a member of Metadata Mapping and Transformation team (known as team Cartographers), a team of 8 Content Integration Engineers who own the end-to-end content lifecycle, from working with publishers, to content extraction, transformation, and loading.  Our team enjoys the flexibility and greater work life balance working remotely offers. About You

  • 5+ years experience in data science, information science, computer and information technology, or related field 
  • 2-3 years experience analyzing, organizing, or creating bibliographic metadata, including familiarity with MARC 
  • 1-2 years experience with data analytics tools and methods, including SQL 
  • 1-2 years experience with structured data formats such as JSON, XML 

 

What Sets You Apart

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Science, or a related field 
  • 1-2 years experience with low-code development 
  • 1-2 years experience with Python or other programming languages 
  • 1+ years in an Agile and/or Lean/Agile environment 

Pay Range

USD $60,960.00 - USD $87,085.00 /Yr.
