Job Description

The NA Data Governance Manager sits within the Data Governance Team of the NA Data Office and reports to the SVP, Data Governance. The Data Governance Manager is a data steward with  a deep knowledge of consumer data and serves as a governance champion, pivotal in maintaining the integrity of Experian’s data.  The NA Data Governance Manager will monitor and enforce the data to day governance of NA data assets, define and maintain data quality standards, and support and consult NA internal stakeholders to help innovation teams search/discover data assets to support innovation/growth. 

Key responsibilities for this role are:

  • Provides a single-point-of-contact and ultimate functional accountability for enterprise-level data standards and data governance processes related to domain data
  • Defines and continually evolves the roadmap for domain data  based upon strategic business objectives, existing capabilities/programs and a general understanding of emerging technologies and governance models/techniques
  • Establishes high data quality standards  (accuracy, consistency, timeliness) and set up validation rules, quality assurance assessments and creation of metrics to understand health of data and rectify issues.
  • Drives adherence to  enterprise data standards and policies within the various organizations that use (formally and informally) domain data and information.
  • Works with Data Quality team to ensure rules are implemnted correctly per standards and policies
  • Monitors and incorporates regulatory, compliance and other external requirements related to the domain information(s) that should be considered
  • Guides and champions the organization’s data governance processes and programs related to domain data
  • Consults with EXP stakeholders (product, analytics, innovation, data acquisition teams) on existing data assets and how data can be used in a compliant manner. 
  • Educates fellow employees on policies as it relates to use of data.
  • Regularly monitors and reviews data quality metrics to ensure they meet organizational standards. Shares insights with different functional areas.
  • Collects, collates, and evaluates data-related issues and problems. Serves as a liaison between users and data management teams, facilitating effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Supports the research, implementation and adoption of data governance technology frameworks.
  • Identifies and addresses risks and vulnerabilities related to data security and compliance.

Qualifications

A steward’s role is comprehensive and varied, combining data and governance expertise with a level of technical skills and strategic vision.   

  • Has significant domain data knowledge in consumer credit/demographic data; additional knowledge of digital data assets preferred (IP, MAID, Device IDs, CTV IDs, etc.).
  • Business acumen to understand and help drive organizational and business unit strategies
  • Minimum of 7-10 years experience with large scale consumer data (data mgmt.; data governance; product; or analytics).
  • Working knowledge of data management and/or related technology solutions - data lineage capture, data analysis or other related data programs
  • Knowledge of industry-leading data quality and data governance practices
  • Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements (FCRA/GLBA/CPRA/DPPA/HIPAA/etc) and emerging trends and issues
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technology staff at different levels of seniority.
  • Good relationship building skills across functional teams
  • Proactive in identifying ideas to improve performance,  impact, drive revenue, decrease costs
  • Possesses strong problem solving skills
