The Principal Data Analyst (Enterprise Associate Listening) will lead the scientific development of Associate Experience survey instruments and survey sampling methodology for Walmart Inc. globally. You will work directly with our Listening Operations researchers to validate our measures and survey models. You will also lead and execute quantitative analytics work needed to design and deliver both internal and external associate experience benchmarking. You’ll play a lead role in evaluating, creating requirements, and implementing new analytics features within our listening platform (Qualtrics) and internal insights application, including the use of natural language processing, large language models, and other analytics features that would enable greater speed to insight and action.

What you’ll do:

  • Global survey instrument design, validation, and modeling.
  • Query and process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and analysis.
  • Develop internal and external benchmarks for associate sentiment.
  • Lead the evaluation of analytics capabilities and provide business requirements for analytics solutions.
  • Design and execute the methodology for scientific survey sampling globally.
  • Associate experience and engagement reporting and analysis as assigned.
  • Provide support to data validation efforts.
  • Make complex and difficult matters simple and easily understood, both in writing and verbally.
  • Advise on analysis and modeling techniques, selecting the best fit for structured & unstructured associate sentiment data.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis including hypothesis testing, statistical inference, and statistical analysis (predictive and/or prescriptive). 
  • Partner with Business, Product, and Engineering stakeholders to translate analytics models into compelling digital insights experiences.
  • Develop and execute recurring processes to monitor, analyze and continuously improve model performance and data accuracy.

What you’ll bring:

  • A strong understanding of psychological science and measurement, such as Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Consumer and Marketing Science, or a related field. 
  • Consistently high standards, your passion for quality is inherent in everything that you do.  
  • A proven ability as a full stack data analyst to develop, validate, and optimize statistical survey models.
  • Ability to connect the how and why, using your knowledge of data science theories and methodologies to derive the best approach that is fit-for-purpose. 
  • A proven ability with statistical methods and advanced modelling techniques (e.g., Structural Equation Modeling, Random Forest, Bayesian inference, LLMs, NLP, neural networks, etc.). 
  • Experience with languages used to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets (e.g. Python, R, SQL, etc.). 
  • Proficient ability to use database technologies and distributed datastores (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience developing models involving tuning, calibration, segmentation and optimization.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
