Principal, Disaster Recovery Engineer
Tasks
- Apply zero trust recovery principles
- Architect multi region hybrid failover solutions
- Conduct chaos engineering and game day exercises
- Define recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives
- Design enterprise disaster recovery strategy
- Design immutable backup and air gapped recovery architectures
- Drive server virtualization recovery using VMware and Veeam
- Ensure DR compliance alignment and evidence gathering
- Establish infrastructure as code standards for DR automation
- Execute full scale DR tests at least twice per year
- Integrate DR procedures into incident response lifecycle
- Lead vendor evaluations and manage DR tool relationships
- Maintain clean room recovery playbooks
- Manage storage replication and failover
- Mentor engineers and drive DR preparedness
- Oversee on premises data center resilience
- Produce executive ready reports and detailed runbooks
- Run ransomware recovery exercises
- Serve as technical authority for DR incidents
- Track test findings and maintain risk register
