Job Description
Join UChicago Medicine, as an ETL Analyst/Data Scientist in the Enterprise Architecture department. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
In support of the UChicago ADAMS Center, the ETL Analyst/Data Scientist will have two main functions: (1) leverage statistical analysis, predictive and prescriptive modeling, and advanced visualizations to assist organizational leadership with operations, change monitoring, strategic planning, research, publications, and program development; and, (2) serve as an Extract-Transform-Loading (ETL) expert on ingesting new data sources into supported applications and identify and design data management solutions to benefit UChicago. Working with both internal and external stakeholders, the ETL Analyst/Data Scientist will design and deliver data models, data structures, and informatics solutions using appropriate statistical analyses to meet business, clinical, and research analytics needs and partner with IT and data warehouse teams to implement, enhance, and maintain ongoing solutions. The ETL Analyst/Data Scientist will be an essential team member to guide and enable advanced analytics and decision making that influence strategic goals across UChicago including to maximize clinical effectiveness, enhance quality of care, minimize waste, and catalyze a cutting edge biomedical and public health research agenda.
Essential Job Functions
- Support stakeholder projects or ad hoc analysis by developing predictive/prescription models, preforming statistical analysis, and managing the ingestion of new data sources/ETLs in the MDClone platform
- Design data management solutions to maximize user experience and technical efficiency and partner with IT and the UChicago ADAMS Center for implementation
- Working with internal stakeholders to identify and measure healthcare related business, clinical, and research problems for which analytics solutions will drive significant value
- Working with external stakeholders (e.g. vendors) to design and implement data structures and data management solutions
- Communicate and share results of analyses and data solutions at internal and external meetings
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Required Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- PhD in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or Bioinformatics (Masters or BA with industry experience also considered)
- Must have extensive experience with R, SAS, or Python for development of statistical and machine learning models
- Expert in SQL
- Must have experience with data warehousing and data model design, or experience partnering with experts in those functions
- Experience in organizing, analyzing, and disseminating significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in data management, including extraction, transformation, loading, validation/testing, and structuring of data
- Understanding of healthcare data preferred including ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT
- Ability to process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

- Epic Clarity or other Epic certifications

Compensation & Benefits Overview
UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
