General Description:
The Senior Decision Science Analyst will act as a lead internal consultant and information provider that leads the delivery of data oriented analyses on a wide range of clinical, financial and operational issues relevant to further OU Health’s impact and improvement of patient care. The Senior Decision Science Analyst assists the Manager of Decision Science in working with stakeholders to lead analytical projects, define scope and identifying interventions to drive positive change at OU Health. The Senior Decision Science Analyst will lead and identify areas to create and drive data-driven decisions that further OU Health’s advancement through its analytical journey that is based off utilizing analytics to lead healthcare – in patient care, education and research.

- Leads complex analytical projects/analyses and serves as the lead point of contacts and subject matter expert throughout projects/requests.
- Leads the defining and monitoring of projects requests/scopes, timeliness of deliverables and actively provides update to customers and leadership.
- Leads and assists with the architecting of analytical solutions with Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Developers, Business Intelligence Analysts and other stakeholders that furthers OU Health’s leader’s ability to utilize data to make data driven decisions on strategic initiatives and planning activities.
- Leads automation efforts on analytical solutions/analyses on behalf of the Decision Support team, while working in conjunction with the Business Intelligence and Data Engineering teams.
- Develops and maintains automation scripts written in SQL or other advanced analytical programming languages (Python, R and etc.) utilized on complex analyses or advanced analytical solutions for strategic initiatives and planning activities.
- Utilizes and mentors other Decision Support Analysts in the development of advanced analytical analyses, by utilizing various analytical methodologies to further OU Health’s strategic initiatives and utilization of value-based care opportunities.
- Demonstrates and utilizes strong knowledge of healthcare cost accounting methodology to identify and further the advancement of OU Health’s utilization of value based care.
- Demonstrates, evangelizes and mentors other analysts on topics of healthcare analytics, hospital operations, payer and social issues to improve OU Health’s clinical, financial and operational performance.
- Utilizes and mentors other analysts on various analytical methodologies (i.e. classification, clustering data mining, forecasting, regression analysis, time series and etc.) to identify and show opportunities to leadership in clinical, financial and operational improvement metrics at OU Health.
- Develops strategic partnerships and committees with departments (Performance Improvement, Management Engineering, Quality, Strategy, Supply Chain, Human Resources and etc.) to develop strategic committees and initiatives to drive home improvement opportunities.
- Stays abreast topics and trends in the areas of healthcare analytics, data science, strategic planning, clinical care, healthcare financials and other trends in healthcare.
- Participates in various enterprise committees to further the mission and data-driven culture at OU Health.
- Leads as a data evangelist and demonstrate best practices to advance data literacy in clinical, financial and operational metrics to service lines and department leaders across the care continuum.
- Leads in the communication of dissemination of success stories and failures in an effort to increase analytics literacy and adoption across the organization.
- Leads the development and delivers of analyses and presentations that will be given to various levels of leadership that demonstrates the utilization of analytics to further the advancement of OU Health in clinical, financial and operational metrics.
- Leads and executes multiple projects simultaneously, while mentoring other analysts on other projects.
- Demonstrates knowledge of a data analytics life cycle and various parts of analytics.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Agile or Kanban project management methodologies.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence dashboard development.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Healthcare Administration or Finance preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science or Decision Support Experience. 2+ years of data science, machine learning or algorithm development (Python, R or other open source tools desired). 3+ years of healthcare analytics or operations knowledge, preferred.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven communication skills – Effective at working independently and in collaboration with customers. Capable of clearly presenting findings orally, in writing or through data visualization.
- Ability to be a change agent by actively generating process improvements; supports and drives change and confronts difficult situations in creative ways.
- Ability to work with associates from various organizational levels.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze situations with data analytics.
- Demonstrates ability to lead and mentors analysts and other stakeholders.
- Experience using Tableau or other reporting tools for data visualization or analysis.
- Experience using analytical programming languages (SQL/Python/R and etc.). SQL is required. Some experience with Python or R is required.
- Passionate about using data to inform decision making and possess the curiosity to research and solve complex problems involving data and business analytics.
- A quick learner who is willing to learn and work in a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Possess strong analytical skills to conduct complex analyses.
- Ability to gather rapport from management in order to identify improvements to patient care.
- Self-starter, project management, data evangelist, data analytics experience and team player.
