Job Description:

Job Title: IT Data Analyst II

Department: Information Technology

FLSA: Exempt

General Function

Answers key questions from stakeholders and possesses self-initiated curiosity for what drives business performance. Investigates and communicates areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity. Scope of work includes stories in the backlog and training less experienced members of our data analytics delivery team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understands Hy-Vee’s business and opportunities our industry is facing.

  • Works closely with the team and the business to gather requirements, identify critical metrics and KPIs

  • Transforms data into readable, goal-driven insights for continued innovation and growth

  • Understands how our work integrates with other teams

  • Collects, cleans, and transforms data for analyses

  • Identifies trends and opportunities for growth through analysis of complex datasets

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Active participant in all of the agile scrum meetings.
  • Attends and is prepared to participate in team, department and company meetings.
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Analytics skills including data mining, evaluation, and analysis
  • Ability to propose solutions before actively developing a feature or request
  • Technical writing experience in presentations, queries, and reports
  • Familiarity of data warehousing concepts
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing

Program Language Requirements

  • SQL
  • Power BI or similar visualization tool
  • Excel

Program Language Preferred

  • Python

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience as a data analyst 

Physical Requirements

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: operating a computer, occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: meeting with customers, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

The duties for this position are performed in a general or remote office setting. There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.

Equipment Used to Perform Job

Laptop and desktop computer, telephone, copier, Fax, printer, PC with Microsoft Office programs and other software relevant to specific position.
