Introduction
Thesis work is an excellent way to get closer to Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their Scania career with their degree project. With the current boom in AI, work has started to investigate how it can be used to improve the efficiency and accuracy of simulation models used for verification and validation.

Background
With the swift change in powertrain regulations, powertrain control software and fault monitors are evolving to be more complex. In order to test such complex functionalities on a simulated environment, a realistic plant model is necessary. It can replicate real life scenarios accurately and help create scenarios difficult to test on a vehicle. Further, it can increase the scope of powertrain software controls and fault monitor testing on a simulated system.

Objective

  • Validating existing simulation models with real life data
  • Detailed analysis and literature review in order to highlight pros and cons of  AI/ML methods
  • Propose and implement optimization strategies to update and calibrate the model to reduce the gap between model behaviour and real life behaviour
  • Validating the models developed with proposed strategies in simulation environments
  • Present measures of accuracy and validity of the calibrated model
