NVIDIA Omniverse is a groundbreaking platform for real-time 3D collaboration and simulation, enabling developers, designers, and engineers to create digital twins and simulate sophisticated environments with advanced graphics and AI. Omniverse supports applications in architecture, industrial design, and beyond, fostering collaboration across diverse teams to drive innovation.

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Center Thermal Digital Twin Development Intern to join our forward-thinking team! In this role, you will work at the forefront of technology to build and extend the Omniverse platform, focusing on the development of digital twins for data center thermal design and optimization. This involves integrating CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), flow network modeling (FNM), and machine learning tools for simulation, design, and analysis of liquid and air cooling systems.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Build tools for CFD and FNM using commercial codes such as Cadence and ANSYS CFD, along with custom scripts for data center liquid and air cooling simulation and analysis.

  • Use NVIDIA Modulus and associated tools to train and infer simulation models, creating robust digital twin solutions.

  • Design Omniverse extensions to support data center digital twin workflows, integrating simulation tools into a unified framework.

  • Develop backend services for simulations and inference, as well as intuitive frontends for visualizing 3D digital twins and control systems.

  • Enhance the accuracy, reliability, and speed of simulation and visualization tools.

  • Work closely with multi-functional teams to integrate tools and processes into existing workflows seamlessly.

  • Contribute to project documentation, standard methodologies, and knowledge-sharing efforts within the team.

What We Need to See:

  • Pursuing an advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience using commercial CFD tools (e.g., Cadence, ANSYS CFD) and familiarity with flow network modeling for thermal design and analysis.

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. Additional knowledge of C++ is a plus. Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Modulus and Omniverse for digital twin creation and simulation. Understanding of thermal design principles, particularly in data centers, with a focus on liquid cooling systems.

  • Strong grasp of system integration and distributed computing concepts.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is an advantage.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Knowledge of data center operations and cooling technologies.

  • Experience in visualizing simulation data in 3D environments.

  • Familiarity with digital twin development workflows and standard methodologies.

The hourly rate for our interns is 18 USD - 71 USD. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.

You will also be eligible for Intern benefits. NVIDIA accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
