Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our client, a dynamic and fast-growing energy trading company in Amsterdam. This is a unique opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to innovative solutions in the energy trading industry.

About the Role:

• Spend 50-60% of your time developing and optimizing data solutions.
• Dedicate 40-50% to collaborating with energy traders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable tasks.
• Ideal for recent graduates or professionals with up to 2 years of experience eager to grow in energy trading.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate directly with energy traders to gather and understand business requirements.
• Develop and maintain high-quality data pipelines using:
  • Java 21, AWS (including Lambda functions)
  • Apache Kafka, Maven, Log4j, JUnit 5, JSoup
• Implement serverless solutions using AWS infrastructure.
• Utilize in-house producer and consumer utilities while adhering to established design patterns.
• Ensure code quality meets industry standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships and academic projects are welcome).
• Basic knowledge of Java and related tools.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with traders and technical teams.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and business needs.
• Proactive problem-solving mindset and team-oriented approach.
