Firmware developer

We are seeking a Firmware Development Engineer in our main Office in Getafe (Madrid)

You will be part of GF Building Flow Solutions Global IoT & Electronics R&D team that includes embedded electronics, IOT, AWS cloud-based services and data science areas to create a new range of connected product & digital services from our offices in Getafe (Madrid).

What will you be doing?

• Your job is to collaborate with internal colleagues and external partners to develop IoT electronics products firmware in line with GF Building flow solutions product development and technology roadmap. The products are part of a core strategic initiative to optimize Water and Energy usage if Building in line with our company strategy.
• You will start by learning about existing products and technologies and collaborate in developing new products.
• Responsibilities will include:
  • Create new firmware for new hardware devices.
  • Design new features based on internal and external requests.
  • Maintain existing firmware, adding new functionalities and debug existing bugs.
  • Collaborate in the functional specification and design of new hardware products.
  • Perform quality assurance, ensuring coding standards and looking for logic errors and other bugs.
  • Firmware release management, general troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Unit and system testing and verification.
• Work includes travelling and working in multicultural environment.

• What will you need?
  • B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Eng/M.Eng in Engineering or related field
  • Work experience of 3-5 years in a similar position working in firmware development, experience with one or more of the following microcontroller families is a must:
    • Espressif ESP32
    • Renesas RL78
    • Microchip PIC18
    • STM 32
  • Coding skills (C, C++, Python)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English
  • To be teamwork orientated

Work experience in following areas will be an asset:

• HVAC/Building Energy/Indoor climate and Water controls products and systems
• IoT device programming and device cyber-secure connectivity to cloud
• ESP32 AWS FreeRTOS/ ESP-IDF
• Embedded Linux experience such as Yocto, Buildroot, OpenWRT),
• Cross-compiling and porting
• Wireless communication technologies Zigbee protocol and Bluetooth knowledge
• Wired and serial bus communications, such as Modbus
• Continuous integration, continuous deployment
• Code management and bug tracking tools such as Jira
• Source code controls such as Git
• Test planning and execution tools.
• Basic hardware knowledge
