- Assist with supervising wildland engine crews
- Conduct hazard risk assessments
- Coordinate Wildland Urban Interface mapping
- Establish work projects and informal fire training
- Lead fire leadership as incident commander
- Manage helicopter landing zones staging and base camps
- Perform fuels reduction assignments
- Provide fire training for region and district personnel
- Provide wildland fire suppression to protect life and resources
- Reconnaissance public lands for water points
